Apple to focus on developing operating software for automotives

Apple after shelving its ‘Project Titan’ has now engaged itself in something which is its forte.


It is now developing its own automotive operating system. It sees its potential customers of this operating system in traditional automakers.

The company has reportedly recruited a score of engineers in Canada who are said to be the former employees of Blackberry Ltd.’s QNX which is a known automotive software provider.

Apple had earlier, during the days of ‘Project Titan’, inscribed Dan Dodge who happened to be former CEO of QNX.The Expertise of QNX is in developing automotive software. It has been the prime reason behind this move. QNX also develops software to integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into infotainment systems, which is used widely. Apart from that, QNX’s  product offer many other services too.

The engineers are supposed to be working in Kanata, a suburb in Ottawa, Ontario. There were murmurs in the market,  what would be the next step that Apple after shelving Project Titan, probably this is the answer to that.
