Sprint has joined NXM Labs to launch a 5G-Ready Connected Car Platform. The platform would offer high-speed, on-demand passenger Wi-Fi with advanced vehicle health monitoring and safety. It also includes blockchain powered Internet-of-Things (IoT) security system that guards against hackers.
The NXM platform includes a powerful automotive router that provides on-demand, unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, powered by the Sprint LTE network now and later on by Sprint 5G service when it begins in the first half of 2019. Drivers and passengers can connect their favorite devices in their vehicle and choose to order cellular broadband by the day, week or month without relying on their smartphone plan.
Features also include maintenance reminders, preventive notifications, scheduling, booking service appointments, smart parental controls, anti-theft, roadside assistance and collision detection. The platform also makes it easy to find nearby parking and low-cost gas, plus keep track of driving expenses.
The platform will be available starting this fall at leading automotive dealers nationwide.
