According to some reports, Hyundai Motor is looking to strengthen its partnership with Mobileye to develop autonomous cars. The companies are in talks with each other for a potential tie-up but nothing substantial has come into the picture yet. Hyundai aims to foray into connected cars and autonomous vehicles, but for this, the company is relying on the partnership model, where it is entering into partnerships with technology companies.
Hyundai is collaborating with Cisco to develop a connected car platform and has been woking with Baidu also for developing connected cars. The company is also trying to forge partnerships with other companies. Hyundai had debuted its self-driving technology on the roads of Las Vegas, this year and has declared that it will be launching its self-driving cars by 2020.
Mobileye has been also expanding partnerships with global carmakers in order to develop autonomous cars. Its acquisition by Intel this year has also helped it become an even more significant player. It has formed an autonomous driving platform with BMW, Continental, and Delphi to deliver a self-driving car by 2021. It has also got a number of partnerships with companies like Nissan, DENSO, STMicroelectronics etc.
